Under current regulations (PUWER 1998), all shutters need to be regularly maintained and inspected by a qualified technician. The regulation states that all machinery including shutters should be kept in good repair and in efficient working order. All maintenance should be planned and preventative in nature, and logged.
Service & Maintenance
BIS recommend that all shutters should be inspected at least once a year, and that higher usage doors like car parks are inspected more regularly. Regular maintenance ensures that shutters are working in a safe and efficient condition – helping to prevent accidents and damage which in turn results in down time; effecting work flow, productivity and resulting in loss of revenue. Our maintenance service includes all safety inspections, mechanical and electrical adjustments, and lubrication. Upon completion of the works you will be issued with a report on the condition of the shutter outlining any hazards or repairs that are required, as well as a certificate of maintenance for your records.
As part of the regulations, maintenance should be planned and preventative. BIS offer maintenance agreements on shutters which log your details on our systems and remind you when the servicing is due, and logs all history of the maintenance. Customers with maintenance agreements in place also receive priority on emergency call out engineers, and prices are fixed for 3 years.
